Unpack and check
Build your LEGO® set first, then open the kit and lay every component out. Everything is bagged and numbered in the order the manual calls for it, so a missing part shows up now rather than halfway through.

Installation guides
Every kit ships with its own step-by-step manual online. Enter the code printed on your box and it opens in seconds.
Five steps, from opening the kit to switching it on. Your set's manual covers each one in detail, with photos.
Where to look
Turn the box over. The code sits on the white sticker at the bottom right, next to the recycling symbols.
Codes start with GC or P. Thrown the box away? Search with your LEGO set number instead.

Place each LED exactly where the manual shows it. Thread the flat ribbon wire between bricks as you go. This is the step worth slowing down for: clean routing is what makes the kit invisible once it is lit.
Connect the cables to the power module as illustrated. Plugs should click without being forced, since forcing them bends the pins. Leave a little slack so nothing pulls on a connector.
Before you close anything up, connect the battery box or USB and test the whole system. Check that every LED lights and that no wire is visible from the front. Fixing it now is far easier than after reassembly.
Tuck the last of the wire out of sight, put your set back where it lives, and switch it on. Tag us @brightmybricks if you want it featured.
The two things people ask us about most. Both take under a minute.
We move the manual library between servers from time to time, and it can be unreachable for a few hours. It comes back on its own within eight hours. If you would rather not wait, write to us and we will send your manual as a PDF.
No. The manuals open straight in your browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Paper sets a hard limit: a booklet caps how many steps we can show, and small print makes cable routing hard to read. Online we use large photos, cover every step, and can correct a page the day we spot a mistake. You also keep access from any device, long after the box is gone.
Search with your LEGO set number instead, for example 71043. If your kit exists in several versions, pick the one matching what you ordered, or ask us and we will point you to the right one.
Read the step through once before touching anything, and check the photo for cable routing. If it still does not make sense, send us the step number and we will explain it. Our video guides cover many kits from start to finish.
Tell us which one. Use report a missing part or report a faulty part, and we will ship a replacement.
