FAQ - All LEGO Light Kits

Got questions? We have answers.

Are LED light kits safe for LEGO sets, or can they damage the bricks?
They are safe. The LEDs run on 5V USB and give off virtually no heat, and the wiring passes through the gaps already between the bricks. No glue, no drilling, no cutting. Remove the kit whenever you like and the set is exactly as it was.
Are light kits for LEGO sets official LEGO products?
No. LEGO® does not make lighting for most of its sets. We design our own kits, compatible with LEGO sets but produced independently. Each one is engineered for a single set number, so cable lengths and LED positions match that model and no other.
Do I have to take my set apart to install a light kit?
Never fully. You lift off specific sections, following illustrated instructions written in the same order you built the set. Most kits take one to three hours, and no electronics knowledge is needed — everything plugs together and runs off one USB cable.
How do I find the right kit for my set?
Search the set number printed on the box, four to six digits such as 10276. Every kit is built for one set, so the number is the match. You can also browse by theme — Star Wars™, Icons, Technic, Harry Potter™ and the rest.
What is inside a kit?
Pre-wired LEDs cut to length for your set, link cables, a splitter to join them, adhesive pads, a USB cable and illustrated instructions. Some kits add flicker, colour or remote effects — the product page lists exactly what is in the box.
Batteries or USB?
USB, 5V. Any port, phone charger or power bank will do. Brightness stays constant and there is nothing to replace, which matters on a set you leave lit every evening.
