Who should use DIY components instead of a pre-made kit?

-An Advanced User who wants to add to or modify one of our existing light kits with extra effects or lights. Essentially, if you want full creative control, our LEGO lighting components are your tools.

How do all the different components (LEDs, boards, cables) work together?

We've engineered our system to be a simple, modular ecosystem. The basic circuit works like this:

 

1. Power Source: This is either a USB Cable or a Battery Pack. It provides the power.

2. Expansion Board: The power source connects to an expansion board. This board acts as a hub, allowing you to connect multiple light sources.

3. Connecting Cables: These run from the expansion board to your lights. They come in various lengths for maximum flexibility.

4. Light Components: These are the LEDs themselves, like our Bit Lights or Strip Lights, which connect to the cables and illuminate your build.

Is there a limit to how many lights I can connect to a single power source?

Yes, every power source has a capacity, but it's very generous. As a reliable rule of thumb, a single USB power source can safely and effectively power a circuit containing up to 50 individual LEDs. For larger projects, you can simply add a second power source to create a new, independent circuit. What are the different types of lights you offer and what are they used for?

We offer a variety of lighting tools for different jobs in your custom LEGO lighting project:

 

-Bit Lights: These are our smallest LEDs, perfect for tiny, precise applications like vehicle headlights, control panels, minifigure accessories, or weapon effects.

-Strip Lights: These contain multiple LEDs on a self-adhesive strip, ideal for illuminating larger interior spaces, ceilings, or creating a wide, even glow.

-Spotlights: These provide a single, powerful beam of directional light, perfect for highlighting architectural features, statues, or key characters in a display.

-Effect Boards: These are special circuit boards that you connect between the expansion board and your lights to create effects like flickering (for fire/torches), pulsing, and more.

Are all Bright My Bricks components compatible with each other?

I'm new to custom lighting. What are the essential components for a basic project?

To get started on your first custom circuit, you will need four essential things:

 

-A Power Source (we recommend a USB Cable for continuous power).

-At least one Expansion Board (a 6-port or 8-port board is a great start).

-A few Connecting Cables of various lengths.

-Your choice of Light Components (a pack of Bit Lights is the most versatile starting point).
